The photo book project

As a result of my four year long work on a documentary project focused on the Ukrainian-American community, a photo book titled ‘It’s personal…’ and dedicated to Ukraine was created.

I spent six months carefully choosing and editing photographs, writing texts for the chapters, organizing everything in one place, so in June 2026 the book was finished.

What is the book about?

My book covers four years starting from February 22, 2022. It chronicles the rallies and volunteer work that took place in New York, and to some extend in Washington D.C., following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This is a story of protest, unity and solidarity. This book was made for the people who stood together for Ukraine, a community archive.

‘It’s personal…’ has 6 chapters, each of which is dedicated to a specific type of event, be it a rally, volunteering, advocacy or writing letters to political prisoners, etc.

Next to the photographs there are messages from participants of these events, who kindly left their thoughts specifically for the book about why they support Ukraine and what it means to them. These voices are essential to my project.

Since I have decided to write this book myself, without the help of a publisher, in order to be able to include all the necessary materials for a complete story, I need your support to cover the expenses. Please donate to let people to see this book, not only in US, but in Ukraine.

How much money is needed

$10,000 for the first 100 books.
It includes printing, copyright services, delivery and storage.
